Today, Nov.7th, from 10a.m. to 3p.m., the Irricana curling club is sponsoring a free clinic. No experiance needed.
The curling rink is located at the corner of 2nd ave and 3rd street. The access is on the east side of the building and go down the stairs.

Is the term economic development appropriate for Irricana?

The new term which seems to be more used frequently is ‘Community Economic Development’.

Most communities have used an outdated practice which is one dimensional. They seem to concentrate on only industrial, main street, or buy local thoughts and do not consider the long range plan for community development.

Perhaps Irricana should take a look at this site for some ideas in case our Town starts to desintregate as Kathyrn and the surrounding areas build.

One of the targets for the EDTC and the Town is to have a wonderful looking community. We invite people to come to see our many murals and see how clean we are in the hopes that some may relocate to Irricana.

We also promote business to come to Town with the understanding that they will also adhere to the ‘clean looking community’ idea.

So, what happened to the finishing touches on the cement truck storage yard and their building on First Avenue? The yard is always full of mud, which tracks out onto the street and continues for several blocks.
The trucks seem to come and go at all hours and there are some that are parked on the (supposed to be landscaped) boulevard or even on the street. I have heard the vehicles ‘warming up’ from our house which is quite a distance, so I don’t know how the residents across the street stand it.

The building has never been finished and the back south-west corner of the building seems to be coming apart with insulation exposed and sheet metal not joined properly. There are no gutters, which adds to the mud all around the site.

The development permit should be up soon. Will it just lapse or will this good neighbor business, who obviously wants to contribute to the community, finish up the landscaping and put gravel or cement in their yard and make their building look more than a tin shack.
