This fall the trees got caught in freezing weather before they had a chance to have their leaves turn yellow and drop them to the ground.
This morning it is quite noticeable that some trees are catching up now and the process is started. Hence the myriad of leaves on the streets.
The garden guru’s have been saying for weeks that the trees are severely dehydrated due to this phenomena and are saying that all trees, mature and newly planted need to be watered well, more than the snow and rain that has been falling.
So….. all tree huggers and others, water your trees now! Please!

More Vandelism
The latest list of vandelism by the local hoodlums include:
A can of beer put into the library through the Book Drop on Friday. This is now Tuesday and the police have not investigated.
The KIK building had some eavestroughs torn off. Repaired by Wayne Graham from Whiska Creek free of charge.
The Ag Building has had damage to the roof and other parts of the building (cost to the taxpayers)
The spash park has had trees torn out. (cost to the taxpayers)
The campground has seen a rash of vandelism (cost to the taxpayers)
There are broken beer bottles on the curbs on main street.
On the weekends (friday night) kids roam the streets until all hours of the morning.
This is now a repeat of the 80’s where we had similar situations in Town. Are kids that bored that they have to resort to this. Why don’t they just ‘text’ their frustrations like everyone else.
By the way… when was the last time you saw a By-law enforcement person in Town. They don’t even come to control the speeding traffic anymore (from what I can see).

Highway 567 and the CNR Crossing
With all the construction going on in Highway 9 and highway 567 there would have been some improvement to the RR crossing close to Irricana.
In the ditch, for the past two years, there have been these really nice ‘formed’ cement pads that are to be placed where the tracks are. Over a year ago, after complaining to the Highway road crew, there was a make-shift fix and it did help. For a while.
Now, the crossing is worse than ever with holes in the timbers and scrap marks where vehicles have bottomed out.
I honestly think that the CN has forgotten the crossing and the trucks that motor up and down the tracks doing inspections are so used to seeing the mess that they don’t report it.
Time for a call, again.

Kart Club application denied
The Calgary Kart Club will not be located between Irricana and Beiseker. The county residents who live nearby, together with the the County councillor for this area made sure that the club would not operate here.
However, it was mentioned that they were welcome to apply in another portion of the County.
(Perhaps one of the County councillors would be happy to sell them some land for it to be on. Probably would not be too much opposition then)
